I wrote up a brief piece for the New York Sun on Benazir Bhutto’s legacy at Harvard. During my research I came across her comments at Harvard’s commencement in 1989. They seem prophetic to me now:
“In countries without established traditions of representative government, democracy is always at risk. All too often there is the overly ambitious general, the all too determined fanatic, or the all too avaricious politician,” she said.
