Oprah in Manchester — Update

Oprah just spoke and electrified the crowd.  It was her first visit to Manchester. I think they’ll remember her.

Obama and the Future

Barack Obama has positioned himself as the candidate of the future. But his supporters have not.  

Right now I’m watching his fans in the Verizon Arena doing the wave — to the strands of the 1979 hit “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now.” When’s the last time you saw anybody doing the wave?

Obama and Oprah in Manchester

I’m here at Manchester’s Verizon Arena waiting for Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey to address what looks like a crowd of thousands. They just sang the national anthem and everyone in the crowd rose. Some place their right hands over their hearts and a security tech even gave the flag a full military salute. Obama would have been wise to follow his supporters’ example back in the Summer.

Not that it will matter much now. Obama is surging in Iowa and starting to catch fire in New Hampshire as well.
