Morricone Honored At Oscars

The Melissa Etheridge speech has made me o.d. on Gore. Another highlight of the show was the Lifetime Achievement Award to Enrico Morricone. As much as I enjoyed Celine Dion’s vocalization of “I Know I Loved You”, first heard accompanying the dancing of the 13-year-old Jenifer Connelly dancing in Once Upon A Time in America.

The Academy’s decision to omit Cinema Paradiso from the montage stands as an error (although it was played earlier in the show). Here’s a clip of one of the most beautiful film themes ever, Cinema Paradiso.
